Insider Tips for Stuttgart from Locals
Insider Tips for Stuttgart from Locals
Stuttgart is known for its cars. After all, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche have their headquarters in the capital of Baden-Württemberg. The Königsstraße is also one of the top shopping streets, with 1.2 km being the longest pedestrian zone in Germany and well-known everywhere. The Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum also attract more and more tourists to the Swabian metropolis. But where are the hidden gems?
We have some insider tips for Stuttgart that locals love to visit.
Eugensplatz: Viewing Point with the Best View of the City
For a long time, Eugensplatz was not found in any travel guide. Here you can escape the bustling city center and relax. Due to the bowl-like location, Stuttgart has several quiet viewpoints at a half-height where you can enjoy the best view of the city. This is my favorite spot.
Lists and Fun Facts
Stuttgart smells of car exhaust. I wouldn't claim that there are more cars in Stuttgart than in other major cities, but it lives up to its reputation as the automobile city with the highest particulate matter pollution in Germany.
You can recognize a true Stuttgarter by their broad Swabian dialect! It's hard to miss!
The best way to get from A to B in Stuttgart is by subway. For the surrounding areas (Ludwigsburg, Bietigheim, Esslingen, Tübingen, or to Cannstatter Wasen) use the S-Bahn. For those brave enough to navigate through cars and crowds, I recommend biking.
I can get from the airport to the city center in the quickest & cheapest way in 30 minutes by S-Bahn. For the amazing price of 3.70 euros within the city - it doesn't get faster or cheaper!
My typical Swabian dish is Maultaschen, lentils with spaetzle, and cheese spaetzle! Best at Weinstube Fröhlich (reserve!) or cheaper and equally great at Platzhirsch at Hans im Glück Fountain.
The best burgers, teas, and Turkish food can be found at Triple B - Beef Burger Brothers in Zuffenhausen!
The best Turkish appetizer platter at Sultan Saray
The best green tea selection in Stuttgart, if not all of southern Germany: The English Tearoom

Karlshöhe: The Most Beautiful Sunset in Stuttgart
In summer, I love to grill with friends at Karlshöhe while watching the sunset! And in winter, I enjoy cozying up with a piece of cake at Lumen in one of their vintage armchairs.
The Oldest Television Tower in the World
At 217 meters, the SWR Television Tower Stuttgart is the first and thus the oldest television tower in the world. This pioneer is considered an aesthetic and architectural masterpiece and remains unmatched in its timeless design. The Stuttgart tower triggered a global tower construction wave.
9. The Best Place to Party All Night in Stuttgart?
Starting at Galao by Marienplatz (Bulmers Cider!) through the ground floor on Theodor- Heuss-Straße (great Moscow Mule) to Hans im Glück Fountain (Mata Hari and everything around it), the night can only be fun!
10. The Best Bargains for Tourists in Stuttgart?
Every Saturday at the flea market at Karlsplatz - a must for vintage lovers!
