Best Things to Do:
Before our first trip along the Garden Route, we had a tough decision about where to stay: Knysna or Plettenberg Bay? Back then, we chose Knysna. Today, I would choose Plettenberg in a heartbeat. Why? 'Plett', as the locals affectionately call it, is simply much more beautiful and cozy. Knysna is more 'chic,' especially the waterfront area, which is very touristy. In this article, I have summarized all the tips and highlights in Plettenberg Bay for you.
In contrast to Knysna, Plettenberg Bay is not situated in a lagoon but directly by the turquoise sea and offers endless white sandy beaches. It's no wonder that Plett is one of the most popular beach destinations along the Garden Route. Here you will find great swimming beaches and waves perfect for surfing!
Location and Arrival
Getting to Plettenberg Bay
Distance from Tsitsikamma NP to Plettenberg Bay: 62 km from the national park entrance
Distance from Plettenberg Bay to Knysna: 62 km (33 km to Knysna)
How Many Days to Plan?
I recommend planning at least 2-3 nights in Plettenberg Bay to explore the area, the Robberg Nature Reserve, and Knysna. If you are also planning a stay in Knysna, 2 nights should be sufficient.
Where to Stay
Ocean Watch Guest House
This beautiful house with unique decor not only has a friendly host and a great view of the sea. Each room has its own charm and is individually decorated. While small, it suffices as there is a lovely terrace with chairs and a sea view right outside the door. The breakfast is delicious, and the parking is safely located in the courtyard.
The room shown in the pictures is the Standard Room with a king-size bed and sea view - Colonial Room.

Long Story Guest House
A highly recommended accommodation. On our last trip, we were too spontaneous, the guesthouse was of course fully booked, so the alternative Ocean Watch Guest House was also excellent. My favorite in 'Plett' remains Long Story Guest House.
This guesthouse is so beautifully decorated that we felt very comfortable. Another plus is that it is only a 5-minute walk from the great Robberg Beach. There is an outdoor pool and from the terrace, you have a garden view.
