Warm travel destinations, winter getaways, and personal recommendations for Germany, Europe, and long-distance trips. Where we are headed in November 2025 can be found in this article.
In this article, you will find:
As the last leaves fall from the trees and the weather turns cold, it's time to head back to the sun. In November, many long-distance destinations such as Australia, Thailand, or Mexico become very popular. But late November also marks the start of Advent with Christmas markets. A perfect time for a winter city trip and romantic weekends.
We have compiled the best destinations and extraordinary trips for November 2025 here - whether warm destinations in Europe or far away, or European and German locations for a short Christmas getaway.

Warm Travel Destinations in November
In November, warm travel destinations in Europe are quite limited. If you don't particularly want to enjoy the sun by the beach, we still have places where you can experience summer-like temperatures in Europe and spend your vacation actively hiking or cycling.
Oman
With very manageable temperatures averaging 29 degrees Celsius in November, this month is ideal for a trip to Oman. The best part about the travel destination Oman: November is off-season, and prices drop.
More and more travelers are discovering my secret tip. While you can find great hotels (like Alila Hinu Bay in Mirbat) for a beach vacation in the south (Salalah), you can explore national parks and the underwater world in the north. Enjoy road trips, hiking, or diving.
The capital Muscat is worth seeing and offers a vibrant mix of culture and sightseeing. In Oman, both beachgoers and active travelers will find their perfect spot.
And don't worry: The country is not comparable to its neighboring states of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is green, open, and the people are very friendly.
- Temperatures in November: 29° C
- 1 Rainy Day
- 10 Hours of Sunshine per Day
Hawaii (USA)
Hawaii is ideal to visit in November. If you don't want to travel during whale season (because you've seen whales often) or want to avoid the Christmas holidays in the United States, Hawaii is a great warm destination. It's not too crowded yet and prices are still reasonable (Hawaii is generally not a cheap destination).
Good to Know!
November is theoretically the rainiest month in Hawaii. But: It often rains only at night, and by day you wouldn't even notice. On hikes, it can be muddy and slippery, but that's what washing machines are for!
It's cooler and sometimes a bit chilly in the evenings. That's just fall. Yet, it offers pleasant temperatures.
Now is the best time to visit as the holidays in the U.S. don't start until just before Christmas. It's not overly crowded, and surfers enjoy the best conditions for big waves starting mid to late November.

Madeira (Portugal)
Far in the south of Europe, at the height of Africa, the flower island of Madeira feels almost like a long-distance destination with a short travel time of only four hours. November is officially the rainy season. However, we had not a single rainy day; the weather was ideal for hiking and swimming in the natural pools by the sea, reaching up to 25 degrees. In some areas of the island's center, which are a bit higher, it can be cooler. The north is also generally cooler, but we didn't experience this in November.
Anyone visiting Madeira should definitely explore the various regions: Firstly, the capital and largest city, Funchal. Secondly, the north with Porto Moniz and Pico de Ruivo as the highest elevation in the interior. The natural landscapes of Madeira couldn't be more diverse. I would call it "the Hawaii of Europe."
In Funchal, you should take a food tour and visit the many parks and gardens like the Monte Palace Tropical Garden. The viewpoints Cabo Girão and Faja dos Padres are also worth seeing.
- Temperatures in November on Madeira: depending on the region 19 - 25 degrees
- 5 to 7 rainy days depending on the region (more frequent rain in the north)
- 6 to 7 hours of sunshine per day
- Advantage in November: Fewer tourists, affordable car rentals, flights, and accommodations

Aruba
In November, temperatures in Aruba are very warm at 26 °C. The sea has an average temperature of 26.9 °C throughout the year. It can rain occasionally in November as it is (theoretically) the rainiest month.
However, prices are considerably lower than in December when many tourists come to Aruba for Christmas.
Here you can find all my tips for a vacation in Aruba with highlights
Mexico
On the Gulf of Mexico or the popular Caribbean coast, it's warmest in November. It is off-season (high season begins in December). Enjoy the calm before the high season.
It's ideal to combine the Caribbean beaches around Tulum with culture and the Maya pyramids. Chichen Itza is accessible as a day trip, as are the beautiful cenotes and other pyramids in Palenque.

Pre-Christmas Destinations in Europe
Many cities that are overrun in summer can now be explored even in bad weather. When the first Christmas markets start at the end of November, it's the perfect time for a city trip.
Reykjavik (Iceland)
No matter what season. The capital of Iceland is always worth a visit, even in winter. In November, the Iceland Airwaves Festival takes place, featuring Icelandic and international music acts. Additionally, you can witness the Northern Lights, safely visit ice caves, and explore Iceland's highlights along the Ring Road or the Golden Circle as a day trip from Reykjavik without the crowds.
Good to Know
The days get shorter, and the activities change: skiing, ski touring, and visiting glacier caves. The highlights at the Golden Circle, the Ring Road, or in southern Iceland are less crowded now. Accommodation prices are more affordable.

Heidelberg
When the forests around the Neckar in Heidelberg change colors and fewer tourists are around, it is the perfect time to explore the old town, hike up to the Königsstuhl or the Philosopher's Way. The Heidelberg Zoo is a highlight for children at any time of year.
Germany's oldest university town is one of the most beautiful cities in Baden-Württemberg for me. I particularly enjoy it during the off-season when there aren't so many tourists in the baroque old town. The Christmas market is among the most beautiful in Germany.

Barcelona
Why Now?
No cruise ships and thus significantly fewer day tourists. The weather is much more pleasant and milder than in Germany. In case of bad weather (which is very unlikely), you can do many "indoor activities". Barcelona truly has a lot to offer: from food tours to interesting museums or extensive shopping, there's something for everyone.
Good to Know!
Many hotels are cheaper in November. The city is much more enjoyable to visit than in summer. Before your trip, check if a city pass (for example, the Barcelona Pass All-inclusive) is worthwhile for sightseeing, as you can save a lot of money in your travel budget.

November in Germany
The month of November is not a popular travel month in Germany at all. If anything, city trips are popular. However, I believe that autumn storms, gray dreariness, and rainy days also have their charm. And who knows, when the sun shines, many regions in autumn are stunningly beautiful: the wine regions with changing vineyards, the Allgäu, and lesser-visited Neuschwanstein Castle or the quaint town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Small but Nice: Christmas Market in Bad Wimpfen
Few have heard of Bad Wimpfen. However, the historic old town of the spa town on the Neckar in the Heilbronn district has long ceased to be a secret tip in our area. Visit Blanka, the last remaining town crier in Germany on the Blue Tower, and explore the beautiful half-timbered houses.
The Old German Christmas Market with a Finnish village brings busloads of tourists to our region every weekend. Your visit can perfectly be combined with a weekend in Heilbronn (my hometown). I have gathered my highlights in Heilbronn here.
Füssen in the Allgäu with the Castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein
Even though many hotels and restaurants use November for their off-season, there is still something happening here. Unlike the popular summer months, you will encounter far fewer visitors at Tegelberg and Neuschwanstein Castle as well as Hohenschwangau. The timing for a visit couldn't be better. Furthermore, Füssen is an ideal location with many vacation rentals and dining options.

Munich
You can visit Munich all year round. Besides the famous sights of Munich, I particularly enjoy the winter version of the well-known Tollwood Festival at the Munich Theresienwiese during winter.
Here, you can discover the city and find cool gifts at the alternative Christmas market while enjoying a great atmosphere and tasting cuisine from around the world. For me, concerts from popular or lesser-known bands were the highlight during my visit. There is a wealth of culture: from theater to comedy to acrobatics, there is truly something for everyone.

Black Forest
The Black Forest is a popular destination at all times of the year. In November, the region is quite good for relaxation with wellness, hiking, or cycling. Even if it rains, there is always something to do, whether it's visiting the Rothaus Brewery (Tannenzäpfle) in Freiburg, the Hüsli local museum (who still remembers the Black Forest Clinic and Dr. Brinkmann?) or the German Clock Museum with the world's largest collection of Black Forest clocks in Furtwangen. You know, this is a highlight for cuckoo clock fans and truly a must-see.
In November, it is also possible to have some snow in the Black Forest. Be prepared for temperatures ranging from 0° to 20 °C during your November vacation.
Caution: The Black Forest is always popular for quick weekend trips, as we Baden-Württemberg residents have a short journey from almost anywhere (and we simply love it here).

Extraordinary Destinations
Patagonia: Chile and Argentina
Slowly, the main season begins in the southern part of both countries Chile and Argentina. It is spring. Are you planning hikes in Torres del Paine National Park, El Chaltén, or El Calafate? Then you have a good chance of securing a spot in the coveted accommodations. It is not yet overcrowded, and the sun often shines during the day.
Ideal to combine with round trips to the Atacama Desert, Valparaiso, Santiago de Chile, and Tierra del Fuego.
Few regions inspire me as much as Patagonia. Empty roads through the Pampa. Always interrupted by mountain ranges of the Andes with gigantic glaciers and the opposite rainforests.
Good to Know!
Even though traveling in this region isn't a bargain, it is among the most beautiful I have ever visited. Nature lovers will love these vacation spots.
Why Now?
Are you into hiking (such as Torres del Paine, Fitz Roy Massif in El Chaltén), or do you want to make a detour to Tierra del Fuego? Then November is the best month for this. Officially, the main travel season and summer are from December to January. According to locals (and my experience), November is sunnier and more stable.
